We're not here to look at you, we're here to appreciate the clothes.

Yesterday I was at a fashion show at L.Center waiting to say hi to a friend who runs a PR firm. She was standing on the runway trying to explain to an irate woman why she didn't have a seat. "The best I can do is have you stand in the back and then pull you down to a seat that's still open before the show starts", explained my friend in a cool honest manner. The woman spit out her disapproval, "Absolutely not!" and stormed out. Do you know what that means? In a brass tacks, let's get down to it honest way? She's not here to see the clothes. She has zero appreciation for what the designer and his team do for a living, or the PR team or anybody else except her. Go home you great tight assed cow and winge to your friends, (they're probably not), about how disrespected you were. If the fashion industry is lucky you'll stop coming all together and maybe your friends will too. Far too many people have no idea how talented and hard working designers and their teams are. In fact I'm entirely sick of pithy comments like, "It's not like we're curing cancer or anything, it's just fashion." Would you say that to Degas? Mozart? Marquez? These designers and their staffs have a spectacular gift from God. You feel like spitting on it because it takes the focus off you? Good riddance to bad rubbish.
